The Pinhoti Experience Foundation is a non-profit organization that teaches outdoor education through in-person and electronic classrooms, school partnerships, and events, that focus on hiker safety and preparedness, trail maintenance and sustainability, and the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace. The Foundation serves as an advocate for tourism and partnerships in the communities surrounding the Pinhoti Trail.

The award-winning Pinhoti Outdoor Center serves as your one stop shop for outdoor enthusiasts, offering top-notch amenities for hikers, runners, cyclists, kayakers, and nature lovers. Located near the scenic Pinhoti Trail, the center provides shuttles, planning services with expert advice, and comfortable accommodations, making it the perfect starting point for exploring Alabama’s natural beauty.

The Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association began in 1983 as an off-trail family of fellow hikers and friends of the trail who’ve all shared similar experiences, hopes and dreams on the Appalachian Trail and other trails. Membership is open to all, regardless of whether you’ve hiked from Georgia to Maine, or just walked from your car to a trailhead.

8 Acorns is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit outdoor recreation area in Cleburne County, Alabama, dedicated to making camping and outdoor activities accessible to families of disabled Veterans and individuals with mental, physical, or medical disabilities. As a mission-driven organization, we provide recreation and support programs for people living with disabilities, their families, and survivors. Our goal is to create inclusive opportunities for everyone to enjoy the outdoors while building community, skills, and confidence—regardless of ability or circumstance.

The Alabama Trails Foundation (Foundation) works to develop Alabama’s potential as a nationally recognized trails destination. The Foundation partners with other non-profit organizations, state and federal agencies and local governments to catalyze significant destination trails to become premier recreation resources and economic engines for Alabama. To execute this mission, the Foundation assigns resources to three major areas; Organizational Capacity, Primary Projects, and Fiduciary Projects.

What started with one charity partner in 2008, has become 140 partners. Our commitment to using water filters to save lives is unwavering in light of the stark need. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are still without clean water. This work feeds our hearts and souls.

The Alabama Forestry Commission protects Alabama’s forests from wildfire, natural disasters, pests, and invasive species while promoting responsible practices such as prescribed burning. The Commission also helps landowners sustainably manage forest resources to support clean air and water, healthy wildlife habitats, and Alabama’s forest industry. Through workshops, forestry tours, educational programs, and community partnerships, it helps people of all ages understand, appreciate, and care for Alabama’s forests for generations to come.

A Christian ministry and mobile application created by U.S. missionary Brad Sasser under Assemblies of God Chaplaincy Ministries to support long-distance hikers.
